Remake of a much-loved animation

2025 Hollywood fantasy adventure animation ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, a remake of the 2010 film under the same name, is now being screened in cinemas around the country. Made loosely based on the 2003 novel by Cressida Cowell, the film is produced by DreamWorks Animation, and it is written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed all three animated films.
The film stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Frost, with Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast from the animated films.
On the rugged isle of Berk, a Viking boy named Hiccup defies centuries of tradition by befriending a dragon named Toothless. However, when an ancient threat emerges that endangers both species, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.
The remake of the box office hit movie was planned in 2023 with DeBlois returning to write, direct, and produce and John Powell returning to compose the score. In line with the international release, the film was released in Sri Lanka on June 13.
