View(s):Mariah Carey Returns With New Album and Major Record Deal
Mariah Carey has signed a multi-album deal with Larry Jackman’s Gamma Records. The news comes as the 56 year mega artist announced she was working on her 16th album. L.A. Reid will be the executive producer of Carey’s forthcoming album. Her last album, ‘We Belong Together’, was released in 2016. The first single from the upcoming album ‘Type Dangerous’ has been released and it samples Eric B & Rakim’s ‘Eric B Is President’ from 1986.
Tate McRae Scores Top 10 Hit with F1 Soundtrack Single
Tate McRae secured the highest new entry on the UK singles chart this week as her new song ‘Just Keep Watching’ debuted at No. 6. The single, released a week earlier, is taken from F1: The Movie. The up-tempo club track is the Canadian artist’s seventh UK top 10 hit. Her last was ‘Revolving Door’, which peaked at No. 7 earlier this year. The video for the song has cuts from the upcoming F1: The Movie. ‘Just Keep Watching’ is produced by Ryan Tedder and Tyler Spry.
Sombr’s Older Track Climbs into UK Top 10 After Viral Breakthrough
Hot on the heels of scoring his debut UK top 10 hit, the teenage artist Sombr has his second top 10 entry this week. The US singer’s older release ‘Back To Friends’ advanced at No. 9 this week from 11. The indie pop and rock was released as far back as December 2024, but it failed to chart until Sombr’s breakout song ‘Undressed’ went viral and became a hit. Since March, ‘Back To Friends’ has moved up the chart, starting at 97 over 13 weeks.
A-Ha’s Morten Harkett Reveals Parkinson’s Diagnosis Amid Ongoing Treatment
Morten Harkett, the lead singer of A-Ha, has announced he is battling Parkinson’s disease. An update on the 65 year old Norwegian artist’s health appeared on the band’s website. Harkett is being treated with the latest treatment available at the Mayo Clinic in the US. He underwent two procedures last year to have electrodes implanted on the left side of his brain in June and the right side of his brain in December. The singer is reportedly facing his health issue with a positive outlook. Harkett is best remembered for his high-pitched, long vocals on songs such as ‘Take One Me’ and ‘The Sun Always Shines On TV’. The band also recorded the theme song to the James Bond film ‘The Living Daylights’ in 1987. A-ha’s last tour, Hunting High and Low, concluded in 2022.
