Chamindu Wickramasinghe delivered a match-winning all-round display as SSC secured their place in the SLC Tier ‘B’ T20 2025 tournament final with a commanding 7-wicket victory over Army SC at the SSC ground yesterday.

SSC captain’s decision to bowl first proved decisive as the home side immediately put pressure on Army SC’s batting lineup. Wickramasinghe struck early to break the opening partnership, creating opportunities for Gishan Balasooriya to capitalize with two quick strikes that left the Soldiers reeling at 39-3 after six overs.

Army SC’s middle order showed resilience through a crucial partnership between Sukitha Devthilina and Shehada Zoysa. Devthilina anchored the innings with a patient 29 from 37 balls, while Zoysa provided the acceleration with a brisk 29 off just 21 deliveries. Their efforts helped Army SC recover to post a competitive total of 139-8 from their allotted 20 overs.

Balasooriya emerged as the pick of SSC’s bowlers, claiming impressive figures of 3/19 through tight line and length bowling. Both Wickramasinghe and Pramod Madushan contributed with two wickets apiece to maintain the stranglehold on Army SC’s batting.

Wickramasinghe, coming in as the opener, blasted his way to hit 38 runs off 33 balls inclusive of three fours and two boundaries, as he set the tone to SSC’s comfortable win.

Skipper Avishka Fernando, coming down the order, hit an unbeaten 34 off 22 deliveries, alongside Charith Asalanka, who was unbeaten on 21 off 11 deliveries, when SSC reached the winning post. Dasun Shanaka (24 off 13) and Krishan Sanjula (20 off 16) produced contributory cameos.
