Dubai’s Marriott Marquis lures Sri Lankans
Sri Lankan travellers have been increasing in numbers over the years to Dubai to holiday, the reason for which Dubai’s Marriot Marquis, the Jewel of the Creek, was in Colombo last week to entice them with special packages.
Representatives from the Marriot Marquis of Dubai were in Colombo aimed at attracting Sri Lankans to visit the destination and stay at the luxurious five star property for their next holiday.
Timeless Trails Dubai CEO Darshana Cabraal, the agents for the hotel in Colombo, told The Sunday Times Business that this is the first time a five star property from Dubai has come to Colombo to attract travellers from Sri Lanka.
He noted that this shows that there is an increasing interest from Sri Lankans to travel to the Dubai and in this respect, they will be able to book their next holiday at this unique property.
Mr. Cabraal also pointed out that the property is ready to cater to the Sri Lankan clientele specifically and have shown a keen interest in attracting more visitors. So far there has been almost 1.3 million passengers (annually) departing from Sri Lanka with the highest recorded from the Asia Pacific (45 per cent), 803,400 to Europe and, 714,400 to West Asia, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The Marriott comprises apartment units; with inter connecting rooms for families.
