Global cybersecurity systems advanced, unbreachable- IT official
View(s):While commending the advancement of digital technology in Sri Lanka, an IT and software expert said that the world has seen its share of hackers and cyber criminals even though the industry is always ahead of these challenges to enable a very secure environment.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India & South Asia, told a media conference on Tuesday, during a visit to Colombo to attend a regional IBM conference, that he was also impressed by Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy, whom he met.
He said IBM has invested heavily in quantum cryptography, described as a science of exploiting quantum mechanical properties to perform cryptographic tasks. “We are working with governments on these challenges. We are happy to help partners here to unlock the full potential of AI infrastructure,” he added.
IBM has adequate AI technology in all its operations installed in the past two years, and “we are happy to partner with the Sri Lanka Government which has set 2030 to achieve its digital goals,” he said.
The media briefing was also to announce IBM’s collaboration with Pan Asia Bank to modernise the bank’s digital infrastructure and deliver faster and more secure banking services across Sri Lanka.
Mr. Patel said that by combining the right system, software and services with the local expertise of IBM’s local partners, the company is helping Sri Lankan enterprises tackle complex challenges, unlock new possibilities, and drive measurable business outcomes – ultimately contributing to the country’s broader economic growth.
