‘Bachi and Dedo’, a vibrant seven-piece musical outfit hailing from Moratuwa, is fast becoming the talk of the town. Formed earlier this year under the leadership of seasoned musician Bachi Sittamige, the band was created with a clear purpose – to cater to retro music enthusiasts who have a passion for the timeless hits of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, in both English and Sinhala.

Bachi, a former member of the iconic Golden Chimes in the 1990s, spent three years with the band before venturing overseas. Now back on home soil, he has brought renewed energy to the local music scene. His distinctive ability to blend a range of musical styles has earned widespread praise, striking a chord with audiences across generations.

With deep roots in Sri Lanka’s musical landscape, Bachi has performed alongside some of the country’s most respected artistes and bands, including ‘Manilal and Upekka’, ‘Golden Chimes’, ‘Ecstasy’, and ‘Blue Shadows’, consistently showcasing his skill and artistry as a lead guitarist.

‘Dedo’ is a Portuguese word meaning ‘finger’ and I decided to name my band as ‘Bachi and Dedo’ mainly because of finger comes as the main armament in firing live music’ Bachi said.

The band’s live performances have been described as captivating, earning them a growing fan base and industry recognition. With a lineup of seasoned musicians, ‘Bachi and Dedo’ bring a wealth of talent and experience to every stage they perform on.

Their next live performance is set to take place in Moratuwa at the newly upgraded Buddhist Hall on Saturday, 31st May 2025. The evening will feature special guest appearances by Lankika Perera of Golden Chimes fame and popular entertainer and singer Sohan Weerasinghe of X’ Periments.

Lankika Perera, who is promoting this new musical outfit, stated that music lovers can expect an evening filled with timeless classics from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, as ‘Bachi and Dedo’ pay tribute to some of Sri Lanka’s legendary musicians. She emphasized that, as a band originating from Moratuwa—a town celebrated for its rich musical heritage—they proudly continue to uphold and honour that legacy.

‘This event will be a special celebration of music, making it a must-attend for all music lovers’ Lankika added.

Tickets are priced at Rs. 1000/-.
