AG to appoint team to study Batalanda report

The Attorney General’s Department will carry out a detailed study on the Batalanda Commission report, the Sunday Times learns.

The report, along with documents containing proceedings of the commission—officially known as the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the “Establishment and Maintenance of Places of Unlawful Detention and Torture Chambers at the Batalanda Housing Scheme”—has already been forwarded to the AG’s Department by the Presidential Secretariat.

The Sunday Times learns that the AG is to appoint a team of senior officials to conduct a detailed study.

The team will study the report’s observations and recommendations to determine the next legal steps.
