‘Nelum Kuluna’ passes 50 days

I lango Ram’s debut success ‘Nelum Kuluna’ or ‘Tentigo’ which showcased the splendour of ‘black comedy’ to Sri Lankan cinema celebrates its victorious 50th day in cinema on Sunday, May 4 .
Marking the 50 days success the distributer Movie Works Ltd has introduced special offers issuing free tickets for every two tickets purchased.
‘The film that took Sri Lanka by storm is celebrating a phenomenal 50-day theatrical run — and we’re celebrating with the cinemagoers’ Ganga Jasenthuliyana -Director, Operations Movie Works (Pvt) Ltd., said.

Started on May 2, the offer is available on Sunday May 4 at selected cinemas.
The story revolving around a funeral, a sombre scene turned into a series of hilarious events, the film narrates around two brothers who discover their deceased father’s erect penis before his funeral. They attempt to discreetly address the situation while uncovering his secret love life and confronting their strained relationship.
A cast with some of the exceptional performance are Kaushalya Fernando, Priyantha Sirikumara, Thusitha Laknath, Ranjith Panagoda, Chandani Seneviratne, Chamila Peiris, Dilhani Ekanayake, Sulochana Weerasinghe, Aloka Gayathrie, Koralage Saman, Sanjeewa Upendra, Madura Prabashwara, Raja Ganeshan, Sarath Moronthuduwa, Asela de Silva and Prasanna Dakumpitiya.
‘Nelum Kuluna’ also created history as the first Sri Lankan film remade into multiple languages—Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, a collaboration with Stone Bench Films, a renowned film production company in South India. Ilango himself directed the first official remake of Nelum Kuluna in India, titled ‘Perusu’ (in Tamil) and ‘Pedha’ (in Telugu) while Hiranya Perera is the producer.
The film also got offers for Italian, Spanish, Italian, French and Belgium remakes.
