Azerbaijan scholarships for Master’s/PhD programmes

The Azerbaijan Government has called for applications to award 3 undergraduate/postgraduate (Master’s/PhD scholarships, the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Training said.

The scholarships are provided under the Heydar Aliyev –International Education Grant programme for the academic year 2025/2026.

Under the scholarship programme, applicants’ tuition fee for the study period, international economy class flight ticket to Baku, Azerbaijan (from the country of origin and from Azerbaijan to the country of origin respectively) once a year, will be covered. An annual allowance of AZN800 (USD470)* will be provided for accommodation, daily expenses, education materials (10 months each year, except July and August). In addition, an annual allowance of AZN200 (USD117)* for medical care and medication during the period in the Republic of Azerbaijan will also be provided.

Applicants will be given a single-entry visa to the Republic of Azerbaijan and temporary residence permits for the stay in the country for the period of each academic year.

Undergraduate applicants should be below 35 years, Master’s degree applicants should be below 40 years, and PhD candidates should be of 45 years. Applicants are required to have a minimum IELTS score of 5.5. They should also have previous education in English.

Applicants have to be a citizen of Sri Lanka, and should be in good health and ready to live in Azerbaijan during the period of study. Undergraduate students are advised not to apply for medical-related degree programmes in Azerbaijan universities, as they are not recognised by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).
