Police to increase measures to protect schoolchildren
View(s):The safety of school students is to be enhanced with the setting up of committees in coordination with the Police.
Police, students, teachers and drivers of school vans will be among those in the committee.
Each school will have its own school traffic plan to ensure that accidents are minimised around the school. Setting up speed limits around schools and arranging parking areas would be part of the committees’ tasks.
Increasing Police presence around schools would be considered.
The conditions of the vehicles, too, would be examined by the Police.
The scheme will be effective from the next school term.
