Pavan Ratnayake slammed a swashbuckling unbeaten knock of 224 runs, which had 20 boundaries and four sixes, to help Dambulla end the second day with a massive score of 558 for 6 against Jaffna in the four day National Super League tournament encounter played at the Sooriyawewa. Dambulla resumed from their overnight score of 280 for 4 as Ratnayake shared two valuable partnerships — first of 152 runs for the fifth wicket with Sonal Dinusha and an unbroken 242-run stand for the seventh wicket with Chamindu Wijesinghe. Wijesinghe remained unbeaten on 104 while Dinusha made 69 during their respective partnerships with Ratnayake in the middle.

Galle was on top against Colombo at the end of second day’s play in the other match played at R. Premadasa Stadium. Galle, in reply to Colombo’s total of 145, resumed from their overnight score of 87 for 5 and recovered to end the day at 255. Vishad Randika and Milan Ratnayake put on a 110-run stand for the eighth wicket to help Galle make a steady replay after an early hiccup. Colombo, batting the second time, ended the day on 110 for 4. The matches will continue today.
