The finalists of the LiNing Sri Lanka International Series 2024 were determined after the completion of semi-finals yesterday at the Dadella Indoor Stadium in Galle. Accordingly Xiaodong Sheng of Canada will take on Rahul Bharadwaj of India in the Men’s Singles final to be held today, while Siti Zulaikha of Malaysia will meet Ruzana Ruzana of Indonesia in the Women’s Singles final.

Thailand’s Sirawat Sothon and Natthapat Trinkajee advanced to the Men’s Doubles final and will confront Indonesia’s Reza Dwicahya Purnama and Rian Canna Varo today, while in an all-Thailand final Neuaduang Mangkornloi and Atitaya Povanon will vie against fellow compatriots Phatharathorn Nipornram and Nattamon Laisuan in the Mixed Doubles showdown.

Unseeded Xiaodong Sheng of Canada overcame Saran Jamsri of Thailand in straight sets in yesterday’s semi-final of the Men’s Singles, while in the other qualifier Rahul Bharadwaj secured a straight win against Sri Lanka’s Dumindu Abeywickrama, despite the set scores ending in close margins. Abeywickrama’s, Sri Lanka’s only shuttler to reach the semi-final stage, had the possibility of reaching the final but his Indian opponent managed to overcome with situation with his experience.

In the Women’s Singles semi-finals Siti Zulaikha of Malaysia was given a worthy fight by Indonesia’s Chiara Marvella Handoyo before the former managed to secure a 2-1 win to book her berth in the final. Ruzana Ruzana of Indonesia easily overcame her compatriot Deswanti Hujansih Nurtertiati in straight sets to book the other berth.

Sirawat Sothon and Natthapat Trinkajee of Thailand teamed up to beat fellow countrymen Narut Saengkham and Pannawat Theerapanitniun in straight sets in the Men’s Doubles first semi-final while in an all-Indonesian clash Reza Dwicahya Purnama and Rian Canna Varo overcame Fauzan Hamba and Adam Putra Wahyu in straight sets after a close battle.

The Mixed Doubles final today will be clash among two Thailand pairs as Neuaduang Mangkornloi and Atitaya Povanon had very little trouble in beating India’s Bhargav Ram Arigela and Pragati Parida in straight sets in the first semi-final. Phatharathorn Nipornram and Nattamon Laisuan was given a good contest by the Indian pair of Chayanit Joshi and Kavya Gupta before securing a 2-1 win.

Pichamon Phatcharaphisutsin and Nannapas Sukklad of Thailand overcame Rakshitha Santhosh Ramraj and Shriyanshi Valishetty of India 2-1 after a close battle to reach the Women’s Doubles final, and they will meet the winner of the second semi-final Prinda Pattanawaritthipan and Atitaya Povanon of Thailand, who easily beat India’s Prerana Alvekar and Mrunmayee Deshpande.

The LiNing Sri Lanka International Series follows the successful LiNing Sri Lanka Challenge held last week at the same venue and offers a total prize pool of $5,000 for the winners. The tournament, which ends today, is sponsored by LiNing, Mobil, GAC, 3M, and McFoil.
