Geoffrey Bawa film: Special screening
View(s):A special screening of Afdhel Aziz’s film on Geoffrey Bawa – ‘The Genius of the Place – the Life and Work of Geoffrey Bawa’ will be held on Saturday, January 20 at the Scope Cinema, CCC at 10 a.m. Viewers will be able to have some time with the filmmaker Afdhel Aziz who will be present for a Q&A session prior to the film.
The film which had its world premiere in Colombo last year takes a close and intimate look at five of Bawa’s landmark buildings: Kandalama; the Lighthouse Hotel; Red Cliffs; Lunuganga and the Ena de Silva house, exploring the vision of the master architect.
A limited number of tickets priced at Rs 5,000 are available at the Denara Training Institute, 181/50, Mangala Gardens, Thimbirigasyaya. Proceeds from the film will be donated to the IMRA Awards for Excellence – that recognizes Muslim women achievers in many different fields from healthcare to STEM, media and entrepreneurial fields to name a few, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2024.
