‘Kuweni’ celebrates 60 years

The late playwright and actor Henry Jayasena’s popular theatre production ‘Kuweni’ marked the 6oth anniversary on September 7, 2023.
The play won the Best Script, the Best Music direction, the Best Actress at 1963 Lanka Art Council Award ceremony.
The play had been staged over the 60 years continuously and the latest and 5th production is done by Prasannajith Abeysuriya and it will be staged on September 19 at the Elphinstone Theatre in Colombo.
Two shows, in the morning for the school children and in the evening for all audience have been arranged and the original stars who were in the cast Wijeratne Warakagoda, Chithra Warakagoda and Cyril Wickremeage are to be felicitated during this show.
