GSTC Tennis, the dedicated tennis club, successfully conducted the first ever open day tennis camp recently, which was well attended and conducted by six professional coaches. The event commenced with an exhibition game of tennis between two Sri Lanka ranked Fed Cup players, Janali Manamperi and Tuvini de Alwis, in order to showcase the level of the game and the skills of tennis that ought to be achieved.

This was followed by a differently-abled person running and returning the tennis ball to demonstrate the will to play tennis in order to be fit and healthy. The coaches then commenced the programme by introducing the basic skills of tennis and ended the two-hour session with fun tennis activities.

The participants were then encouraged to follow-up by joining the GSTC Tennis Academy, which will be inaugurated tomorrow (July 31) at the GSTC Tennis premises at Joseph Frazer Road in Colombo 5. The academy will be conducted on Mondays and Thursdays between 6.30p.m. and 7.30p.m. under flood lights by dedicated professional coaches and will be open to any member of the public.

A nominal fee of Rs 2,000 per person would be charged for the one-hour session under lights. Registration for the programme could be done by contacting GSTC via WhatsApp on 0727666026.
