Remit money through formal channels or lose benefits

Public Sector employees who have obtained leave to travel overseas for employment will be disqualified from the benefits if they fail to remit money back to Sri Lanka through formal channels, the Ministry of Finance has decided. The Treasury Secretary has sent out a circular saying that in addition to the failure to remit money through formal channels, violation of any other clauses of the circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration would deprive them of the benefits.

Earlier, the Ministry of Public Administration announced that the period of leave would not be considered for their seniority, and their position would be the same as the date they started their period of leave. Initially, the Public Administration Ministry said that their seniority would not be affected, but earlier this month it withdrew the concession.
