Sri Dalada Maligawa Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said elephant owners must be guided by the recently issued Gazette notification and should take responsibility of taking care of the animals without allowing people to criticise the health conditions of the elephants.
He was speaking at a top-level discussion at the Sri Dalada Maligawa Conference Hall yesterday on elephants and the Kandy Esala Perahera.
