The Council of Legal Education, chaired by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, has taken steps to repair the dilapidated buildings at the Sri Lanka Law College and improve its facilities.

The repairs will be carried out by the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), with Justice Ministry engineers providing assistance and advice. The relevant agreement has already been sent to the Attorney General.

Law College Principal Athula Pathinayake told the Sunday Times that while course fees had been increased, steps were also being taken to improve facilities for students at the college concurrently.

The process of digitising resources at the college library, which is more than 100 years old, is ongoing. Dr. Pathinayake said that many more facilities would be available for students by the time the college celebrates its 150th anniversary next year.

Dr. Pathinayake appealed to those who had passed out of the College to contribute to this endeavour as it would enable the college administration to further improve facilities for students.
