Movie with magic realism, ‘Ksheera Sagaraya Kelambina’ (The Milky Ocean Churned), directed by veteran filmmaker Prof. Sunil Ariyarathne is now being screened in theatres of Ridma circuit around the country. The film is based on the novel ‘Ksheera Sagaraya Kelambina’ by the renowned novelist Saiman Navawaththegama.

A lecherous and merciless emperor will come face-to-face with two rebellions. First the rebellion of his own mind. And the second, the rebellion of his people. He vacates his seat of power to find answers. Who will pose the greatest threat to the malevolent emperor? Will it be his arch enemy the rebel leader? Or will it be the disgruntled and dejected countrymen? Will it be his disillusioned new found love interest or be his heart yearning for his favourite concubine? Or will he be destroyed by himself and his ruthless, cold-blooded, unmerciful heart?
The lead and other roles have been played by the popular artistes including Jackson Anthony, Hemal Ranasinghe, Udari Warnakulasooriya, Lucian Bulathsinhala, Sarath Kothalawala, Kumara Thirimadura, Gihan Franando, Ravin Kanishka, Wasantha Kumaravila, Priyanka Samaraweera, Anura Bandara Rajaguru, Harini Kavyanjani and J agath Benaragama. The script and the dialogues are by Jackson Anthony and Channa Desapriya is the camera director. The music is composed by Rohana Weerasinghe.
The film is produced by H.D. Premasiri for Sarasavi Cineru. He earlier produced films like ‘Yasodara’ and ‘Wijayabah Kollaya’ for direction of Prof. Ariyaratne.
The songs have been sung by the veteran singer Nanda Malini. A remarkable contribution has been made by several other artistes including Ajith Ramanayake in editing, Priyantha Dissanayake as the makeup artiste, Dammika Hewaduwatta as the art director, Sasika Ruwan Marasinghe by managing of accustices, Virnal Desapriya as assistant director, Kapila Paliyawadana as the choreography and Osanda Saman Bandaranayake as the director of fighting.
Kumudini Dias Haputhanthari, Chandu Haputhanthiri, Chandi Haputhanthiri are co – producers. The production has been supervised by Ranjith Kumara and Irnal Wijesiri Senadera is the production Manager.
