Health A Plenty 2.0, a global initiative to increase health awareness
View(s):‘Health A Plenty 2.0’ was a project initiated by the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura to lend people the opportunity to learn and improve their health statuses and raise awareness about the importance of living a healthy life, along with making new global friendships among Rotaractors and strengthening the bonds between clubs from all around the world.
The project was conducted in three phases. In the first phase of the project, a PR campaign was successfully conducted regarding “Eating Disorders,” a mental disorder that has serious implications for health among youth at present, and blog articles were published in the official blog of RACUSJ targeting the World Patient Safety Day, World Polio Day, and World Diabetes Day to further raise health awareness among our readers.
The second phase included a Blood donation campaign, a First Aid session for the student of Kolonnawa Balika Vidyalaya, a virtual Panel Discussion on the topic “Eating Disorders”, and a collaboration with International Rotaract Clubs to conduct health-related programmes, where several clubs from various countries, including India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal, joined us.
In the third phase, a monetary donation was provided to conduct an anatomy session for schoolchildren who aspire to become medical officers, conducted by St. John Ambulance, Sri Lanka, the project’s Official Knowledge Partner.
The project was successfully concluded on February 11, 2023, on a global scale, cooperating with International Rotaract Clubs to create a healthier life than before, and huge gratitude goes to everyone who contributed to make this project a success.
