Colombo Uni leads Lankan universities in international ranking
View(s):The University of Colombo was once again placed as the top university in Sri Lanka in the first edition of the 2023 Webometrics Ranking.
The Webometrics Rank of a university is strongly linked to the volume and quality of the contents it publishes on the Web. The Ranking evaluates the impact of a university’s web content, citations in top Google Scholar profiles, and top-cited papers during the five-year period from 2017 to 2021 in Scimago.
This is the 20th Anniversary Edition (2004-2023) of the Webometrics Ranking. Harvard University, Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States lead the global ranking.
“University of Colombo’s commitment to excellence in research and teaching is reflected in its continued success in the Webometrics ranking and this year the university outperformed its previous world ranking position from 1,531 to 1,468,” the University said in a statement.
University of Peradeniya with a world ranking of 1,866 came in second while the University of Sri Jayawardenapura (world ranking 1,926) came in third in the Webometrics Ranking.
