Mariah Carey clinches No: 1 spot with Christmas single
Mariah Carey has clinched the No: 1 spot on the UK singles chart this week with ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. The festive perennial clocked 10.8 million streams in the week ahead of reaching the pole position. It is the second time the 52 year old Carey has taken to song to the No: 1 on the UK singles chart. She did it first in December 2020. Carey has co penned ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ with Walter Afansieff who also produced the song.
‘Merry Christmas’ by Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John climbs up the chart
‘Merry Christmas’ by Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John took a big leap from 15 to land in the UK top 10 singles chart at No: 4 this week. The track released last year to reflect coming out of the pandemic first appeared on Sheeran’s album ‘=’ (Equal) and Sir Elton’s ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ album. ‘Merry Christmas’ topped the chart last year for two weeks, only to be ousted by LadBaby’s ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ where the duo were the guest performers.
