The 12th edition of the Agenda 14 Short Film Festival concluded last week introducing a number of talented youngsters to cinema.

Held from December 8 to 12, Nadaraja Manivanan ‘Thotti Meengal’ was adjudged the Best Short Film while the Jury Prize was won by Anjelo Jones ‘Ray’.  Other nominations were – ‘Marred Circus’ by Kenistan John, ‘Dekona Vilakkuwa’ by Sureni Wasana Ranawaka and ‘Distance’ by Thisen Umagiliya

The Most Promising Filmmaker award was won by  Sureni Wasana Ranawaka for  ‘Dekona Vilakkuwa’ and the Best Experimental Film award won by Kenistan Jones ‘Marred Circus’.

Rivindu Samadhith Perera and  Dulina Chandrasiri’ ‘Premonition’ won by the Best Micro Short Film while  Sanjaya Dissanayake’s ‘Test by’ was nominated.

‘Green Award’ was won by Anya Ratnayaka film on the Colombo Wetlands and the Urban Fishing Cat by Irushi Tennekoon. Sunila Abeysekera Memorial Human Rights Prize was awarded to Tishan Sandaruwan Dewanarayana’s ‘Akeldama’. The other nominations were ‘Human Zoo’ by Gopi Krishna and ‘Teddy’ by Akash Sunethkumara.

The award for the Most Gender Sensitive Film was given to ‘Dekona Vilakkuwa’ by
Sureni Wasana Ranawaka.

‘Mom’s Dinner’ by Chathurangi Ayesha and ‘Girl in the rainwater tree’ by Yoshitha Perera were the other winners.

The Best Animated Short Film was awarded to Anya Ratnayaka on the Colombo Wetlands and the Urban Fishing Cat by Irushi Tennekoon.  Yoshitha Perera’s ‘Girl in the rainwater tree’ was nominated.

The award for the Best Cinematographer was won by Palitha Perera for ‘Distance’ and the Best Editor Award was won by Angelo Jones for ‘Ray’

The Outstanding Performance was awarded to Dhiyana Silva for his role in ‘Distance’ and Aranya Sivaramakrishnan was awarded the Special Mention for Performance for ‘Thotti Meengal’.

Ravindu Fernando ‘Pieta’ won the Audience Choice Award.
