To facilitate the process, the Government is looking at providing easy term schemes to obtain the facility and providing loan schemes for low income groups.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the Education Times that the objective is to continue the education process without disruption at a
time when the teachers are
keeping away from the online education activities.

As part of the process, a fully dedicated radio channel for education and six educational TV channels will be launched tomorrow, Mass Media Ministry official said.

The education radio station ‘Vision FM’ will be available on Sri Lanka Broadcasting Service’s 102.1 and 103.1 F.M and will operate for 20 hours.

Students will be able to listen to education programmes starting from 4.00 a.m. till midnight, with 65 percent of the programmes being academic programmes

school syllabuses.

Sri Lanka Telecom’s PEO TV will also launch six educational channels dedicated for education next week, and it is planning to launch another fourteen channels in the coming months.

“Arrangements are being made to use satellite technology to provide educational channels for students who cannot access PEO TV due to low signals. Meanwhile a number of mainstream television channels have positively responded to ours (Mass Media Ministry) and the Education Ministry’s request to telecast educational programmes,” Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
