MoUs to be signed for new university student and staff exchange programmes

The Cabinet has granted approval for the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with two universities in Australia and United Kingdom.

The University of
Sri Jayawardenapura is to sign a MOU with the University of Edith Cowan in Australia with the objective of enhancing research co-operation in the fields of mutually agreed between the two sides.

The other areas of the MoU will be implementation of student exchange programmes based on the requirements of the two parties, executive educational programmes on hospitality, curriculum and subject development programmes and the implementation of consolidated doctorate programmes.

The second MOU is to be signed between the Open University of Sri Lanka and the University of Essex in the UK.

Under the MoU approval has been granted to enter qualified students who have completed the relevant courses at the Open University of Sri Lanka to the University of Essex, to implement partnership researches subject to mutual concurrence and to organise student, faculty and staff exchange programmes.

The proposals were submitted by the Education Minister, recently.
