Last week the Government announced a plan to establish a judicial training academy to train qualified judges.

The plan will facilitate upgrading and developing infrastructure facilities in the judiciary along with legal reforms which will be under the digital platform.

The facility is expected to give judges a university experience that would increase their knowledge and improve skills.

It is learnt that a committee lead by Supreme Court judge Buwaneka Aluvihare and experts in the field will make the necessary recommendations for the first judicial service academy in Sri Lanka.

Currently all judges get their training from the judges training institute which is now considered inadequate to train judges. (CC)
