There are plenty of buses operating between Pettah and Kottawa (the 138 bus route), and between Kottawa and Borella, Malabe, Maharagama, Aturugiriya, Homagama, Mt. Lavinia and Piliyanda.

Many regular passengers who get into buses at the bus stand complained about the inconveniences they face especially on rainy days. They have to endure muddy water splashing on their clothes and shoes, and some people have even tripped and fallen down in the mud.

Despite being one of the busiest bus stands in the Colombo district the Kottawa bus stand has been badly neglected.

On rainy days, the feathered visitors seem to enjoy themselves more than the bus passengers.
