Mahesh Denipitiya needs utterly no unveiling being the son of the impending veteran music director Patrick Denipitiya. Obviously music he had inherited flows in his blood. Mahesh was more curious in computer hardware technology having entered the Moratuwa University to complete a degree in that field after excelling in studies and sports at St Peter’s College. But like a duck taking to water he was enchained to become a musician. He quit his profession as a computer hardware engineer having had a lucrative core. Mahesh soon became a trend setter, who has created turning points in the music industry to focus on unplugged and creative fusion music, inspired mainly by the local cultures and traditions and other music genres. This is the concept which Mahesh has had success voyaging in his own music arrangements.

Fusion music describes what happens when established music styles and genres, sometimes a mix of traditional and modern are combined to create a unique arrangement. Although sometimes known to be controversial, this has helped in the evolution of the music industry as we know it.

As a full time musician, his first assignment was with the popular duo Bathiya n’ Santhush in launching Sareegama recording studios, prior to this he gained experience at Al Nazaer high-tech studio complex in Kuwait as their studio maintenance engineer.

Mahesh later toured extensively with BnS, with stirring performance at the Sydney Opera House in 2005. Since then he also lent to choral music by popularising original arrangements of Sinhalese songs for western choirs which is now popular in churches.

Mahesh is a household name as the flamboyant keyboardist, composer, pianist and a topnotch in music set ups. He has fulfilled the parent’s dream of climbing as an eminent musician which they have identified when he was young by gifting a guitar for his 9th birthday.

Mahesh had met his wife Nandika an architect by profession at the same University. The duo is blessed with two children, the elder Dulani studying for a Doctorate in Landscaping Architecture in Melbourne while son Eshan lives in Singapore is a celebrated pianist having studied pianoforte.

Initially Mahesh was impressed when invited to perform for the first ever reality programme ‘Sirasa Super Star’ Season 1 in 2006,where he had defied the orders of the producers and directors to execute as a solo pianist, creating a fresh trend to pioneer a musical setup including violin, piano and percussion to emend the path of the music industry, as all other channels thereafter articulated suite in all reality competitions.

The concept of ‘Aluth Iskole’ was a joint venture, teaming up with Mariazelle Goonetilleke, Upul Sannasgala, Shakila Perera, Sagara Lakmal and Kelum Srimal. It was a musical masterpiece involving seventy five artistes and singers. This video was released for the 50th anniversary of ‘World Earth Day’ on 22nd April 2020. The artistes and musicians were made to be united during this historical global lockdown. The music composition, mixing was masterminded by genius Mahesh via mobile phones for audio and video abiding with distancing rule completed with the computer hardware expertise within his repertoire.

Mahesh together with workmanlike instrumentalists and singers leads his orchestra, MaFF organise shows with popular vocalists. Another milestone of his was when TV Derana in partnership with Dell Computers to rerecord songs of popular artistes to ‘Dell Studio’ with his new creative music direction concept in four seasons years 2014 to 2017.A hazardous task with back up singers in Anushka, Apeksha, Praneeth, Saman Lenin, Gayani, Sanka ,was accomplished triumphantly.

Mahesh has an unique motive to help many in music compositions voluntarily .The song ‘Premaye Sirakariye’ , ‘Pathinawe Devamaniyo’ and ‘Dinak Dinak’ sung by Anushka and Praneeth were released to You tube recently.

Mahesh’s sole intention had been to impart his innate abilities in music to the music industry; in order that once he departs his name would be inscribed in gold in the annals of history. This was his motive when he quit his lucrative profession as a computer hardware engineer to commence a career in music.
