Attorney General’s Dept. given clearance to resume work

The Attorney General’s Department which was closed down after a female security officer infected with COVID19 was detected has been given approval  by the Health Ministry to resume work.

The Health Ministry has requested the AG’s Department to follow interim guidance, operational guidelines and response for Covid 19 outbreak.

Earlier, the AG’s Department sought clearance from the State Intelligence Service (SIS) to reopen the Department after six of their security officers who were initially suspected to be infected with COVID-19 were tested negative.

The six private security personnel were tested after the female security officer was tested positive of COVID-19.

Additional Solictor General (Administration) Sumathi Dharmawardena, in a letter to the SIS has sought the clearance after the Attorney General was informed that the six security personnel were tested negative.

The SIS was coordinating the tracing of staff of the AG’s Deparment who may have come into contact with the lady security officer who was tested positive.
