One of Sri Lanka’s most acclaimed vocal-centric acts, Voice.Print, is set to wow audiences with a 2½ hour concert at 6 p.m. the Colombo Viharamahadevi, Amphitheatre on November 4,  that pays tribute to the music of boy bands. The concert titled ‘replay’ will showcase the music of boy bands from four generations, from The Temptations and Jackson 5 to Backstreet Boys and Boyz II Men to contemporary acts such as One Direction.

The set-list for ‘replay’ reflects the massive impact boy-bands have had on popular music. “People tend to think of boy-bands as a relatively recent pop culture phenomenon, but the truth is such musical acts have been part of popular music from as far back as the 60s with The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Motown acts such as The Temptations being among the most famous from that era,” said Naresh Sathasivam of Voice.Print. “The baton was thereafter carried by 90s acts such as Backstreet Boys, N-Sync, Boyzone, Westlife and today’s One Direction,” he added.

Voice.Print shot into prominence with their acapella-centric music that showcases the vocal ranges and timbres of their five members. The band was an instant hit at the World Choir Games 2010, winning both Silver and Bronze medals for their performances, in a competition that featured highly trained choral acts from around the world. “Since then, we’ve gained a loyal fan base of Sri Lankan music fans, most whom hadn’t heard a vocal acapellagroup performing unique arrangements of much-loved pop music,” said Naresh.

The tickets for the events are priced at Rs. 5,000, Rs. 2,500, and Rs. 2,000 – and can be purchased on www.444.lk.
