Sri Lanka’s newest branding “So, Sri Lanka” will be launched next month ahead of the much-awaited three –year long multi-million dollar global promotional campaign.

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Dehan Seneviratne told the Business Times on Friday that the official announcement of the new branding for Sri Lanka would be made in November and kicked off at the World Travel Mart (WTM) in London.

He pointed out that the government spent US$2 million on the branding and logo that will be launched in the UK where it will be unveiled at the WTM pavilion and followed by a special dinner hosted by Sri Lanka for its stakeholders there.

Sri Lanka has been on the search for a new branding since it had been worn out of its old tagline which made it a “Wonder of Asia” and then transforming to a “Small Miracle.”

Meanwhile, a US$350,000 spend on advertising on Lonely Planet is still under discussion, the bureau’s Managing Director Sutheash Balasubramaniam told the Business Times on Thursday.

He noted that they had received a fairly good feedback on their “Island Escapes” low season promotion and within two weeks they had received over a thousand bookings at the start of the campaign.

In addition, he pointed out that they had also received good feedback from the CNN campaign and was looking at the option of going through with it again for another three months. However, promoting the island on the other media channels were still being worked out, he said.
