Sri Lanka Police (SLP) Men and Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Women won the respective championships at the Western Province Netball Association organised ‘EVA’ Netball Tournament concluded at the Sri Lanka Air Force Grounds last weekend.

In Schools section, Holy Family Convent (HFC), Kurunegala, emerged Under (U)-19 winners, while Maliyadeva BV and Musaeus College, Colombo, won the U-17 and U-15 titles.

A record number of 141 teams- 103 Schools and 38 Clubs- from Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kandy, Kurunegala, Negombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Pannipitiya, Kottawa, Kelaniya and Colombo participated in 4 Divisions- Open ‘A’ Division for Men and Women, Open ‘B’ Division for Women, Veterans Division for Women Over-40 and Schools U-15, U-17 and U-19 Divisions.

 Final Results:  

  • ‘A’ Division:

Women- SLA beat Expo Lanka 72/58

Men- SLP beat Net Fire Sports Club 14/9

Veterans Over 40- Speed Birds beat Panthers Sports Club 14/3

  • ‘B’ Division:

Women – Net Fire Sports Club beat Campbell 16/11

  • Schools:

U-15- Musaeus College, Colombo, beat HFC, Kurunegala 14/13

U-17- Maliyadeva BV, Kurunegala beat Gothami BV, Colombo 16/13

U-19- HFC, Kurunegala beat Holy Cross College, Gampaha 26/12
