The Ministry of Education (MoE) is in the process of collecting information regarding students and schools affected by the present inclement weather, to facilitate immediate relief assistance.

School authorities, parents and students are requested to contact the MoE hotline at 1988, if their textbooks, exercise books, school uniforms, shoes and study notes are destroyed by floods, winds, landslides and heavy rains.

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has instructed Education authorities to extend assistance to students from flood and landslide affected areas, especially those sitting for Advanced Level examinations this August, as well as students sitting for Grade 5 Scholarship exam.
Authorities have been instructed to immediately provide all necessary facilities to restore studies affected by the prevailing inclement weather.
