Jaffna Uni’s Int’l Research Seminar on Dry Zone Agriculture in November

Members of the Teachers’ Union of the academic staff of the University of Jaffna (UoJ), discussed about the International Research Seminar on Dry Zone Agriculture to be held on Nov.1,2 by the Agriculture Faculty of the UoJ, with Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama.

The Minister expressed the view that to develop the Agriculture Sector, Research should take place and through Research, not only can production be improved, but food crops of high nutritional value could be propagated.

He said, “Hence, Research Seminars like the one planned, are very timely and will have his full support. The Minister accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest at the Seminar’s inauguration on November 1. The International Seminar will be held in the auditorium of the UoJ Agriculture Faculty in Kilinochchi.

Senior Lecturers Dr. Seevaratnam Vasantharuba and Dr. Uma Shankar and Lecturer Sarujan Sathyamurthi of the Agriculture Faculty of the UoJ, participated in the discussion.
