The fifth anniversary performance of Rajitha Dissanayake’s play ‘Aadara Wasthuwa’ (Love Object) will go on the boards at 7 pm on January 21 at the Lionel Wendt Colombo.  

The drama questions the notion of love; its boundaries and politics, and the extent to which it determines our behaviour when confronted by other overpowering conditions.

Rajitha Dissanayake ranks among the top original playwrights to emerge in the last two decades and has produced well-known plays like ‘Nathuwa Bari Minihek’, ‘Apahu Herenna Ba’, ‘Sihina Horu Aran’ and  ‘Weeraya Merila’. His scripts focus on burning socio-political issues and have drawn crowds, sparked debate, won awards and toured internationally. Shyam Fernando, Nadeeshani Peliarachchi, Thumindu Dodantenna, and Kasun Chathuranga make up the cast. Behind the screen music is by Kapila Poogalaarachchi, set design by Chamara Wijesinghe, make-up by Priyantha Dissanayake, light design by Ranga Samarakoon and stage managers are Vijith Nuwan and Nalin Lusena.
