Two Bridgeteens bring honour to their alma mater

The captain of the Under-15 basketball team of St. Bridget’s Convent — Shayami Perera and her vice captain Netanya Perera — represented Sri Lanka at the “FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship for Women 2017” from October 22 to 28 held in Bangalore, India.

Being selected by the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation, they had the privileged honour to win against Nepal, bringing pride to Sri Lanka and to their school.

Shayami Perera was awarded the title “Best Defensive Player” at the Under-15 All-Island ‘B’ Division Basketball Tournament and at the Under-15 Zonal Basketball Tournament in the years 2015 and 2016 respectively while Netanya Perera was awarded the title “Best Defensive Player” at the All-Island ‘A’ Division Basketball Tournament in the year 2017.

Their dedication and commitment towards basketball has brought pride and honour to their families as well as for their alma mater.
