Hareen steers St. Aloysius to victory
Innings win for Jaffna Central
Left arm spinner Hareen Buddila ended with a match bag of 9 for 84 to steer St. Aloysius Galle to a convincing eight wicket win over Zahira in the Under-19 Inter-School Cricket encounter concluded at Maradana yesterday.
The home team put in a pathetic batting performance in the second innings as they lasted only 20.2 overs being bowled out for a low score of 52 runs with Hareen who bagged four scalps in the first inning doing the damage with figures of 5 for 32 and was supported by Kavika Dilshan and Dinuka Lakmal who shared five wickets.
The morning session of the second day’s play saw St. Aloysius in reply to Zahira’s 189 making 206 with Pasindu Nanayakkara making a top score of 52.
St. Aloysius set a simple run chase of 37 runs for victory raced to the target in 7.4 overs with the match ending halfway stage of the second session of proceedings.
The match between Sri Sumangala Kandy and Jaffna Central too saw an early finish at the Police Park in Kandy with Jaffna Central guided by S. Thushanthan coasting to an innings and 32 runs win.
The second day’s play saw the Sumangalians being bowled out for low scores of 99 and 70 with Thushanthan returned with impressive match bag figures of 10 for 64 doing the damage.
