Multi-awarded and internationally acclaimed Parakrama Niriella’s theatrical production ‘Charandas’ (A truthful thief), will be staged at 7 pm on November 8 at Medagama School ground.

An adaptation of the Indian version “Charandas Chor” by Habib Tanvir, a veteran drama director and the leader of the Naya Theatre Group of Chhattisgarh, the Sri Lankan production won nine awards including the Best Drama at the State Drama Festival in 2006. Habib’s ‘Charandas Chor’ has won the highest award at the Edinburgh International Drama Festival in 1983.

Charandas was produced both in Sinhala and Tamil and its music direction is by the late actor and musician H. A. Perera while Ravindra Mapitigama contributes as choreographer and assistant director. Dilip Rohana chips in as the manager and Chaminda Prasad and Palitha Abeylal handle makeup jointly.
