Geshan, Hashan guide BMS to victory

A quick fire 46 in only 25 balls inclusive of four boundaries and four sixes by Geshan Wimaladharma who put on a match winning opening wicket partnership of 66 runs with Hashan Dumindu laid the foundation for Business Management School record a convincing nine wicket win over Saegis Campus in the final of Red Bull Campus Cricket T20 qualifying tournament final played at P. Sara Stadium yesterday.
BMS in pursuit of a simple target of 101 runs raced to the target in just 10.1 overs.
Earlier in the day Saegis Campus invited to take first lease of the wicket lost their first wicket with nine runs on the board and from there on they never recovered.
There were no significant partnerships coming their way and before the halfway stage of the innings (8.5) they were struggling on 55 with five of their top batsmen back in the pavilion.
They were unable to go through their allotted 20 overs as they lasted only seven overs more – losing their remaining five wickets for the addition of only 45 runs being bowled out for 100.
Business Management School who are the defending Red Bull Campus Cricket World Champions with this win will get an opportunity to retain the Red Bull Campus Cricket World title which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka for the second successive year.
