Sunrise Seniors Pvt Ltd, an organisation set up to represent the interests of Sri Lanka’s elderly population, recently launched the country’s first magazine dedicated to the community of elders.  The magazine titled “Sunrise – a magazine for inspired seniors’ has many articles that would interest the society of elders in Sri Lanka. Edited by Ms. Nina Abeydeera, the magazine contains articles on a proper diet, ‘eating fruit on an empty stomach’, health issues of seniors, exercises for the elderly, menopause, geriatric depression and how to age gracefully.

It also contains contact numbers of ambulance services and addresses of some of the homes for the elderly.  The board of directors of the organization is T. Someswaran, Jayantha Mootatam, T. Sambasivam, Ms. Shobana Swaminathan and Ms. Shamin Hemantha Jayawickrama.
