HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Resort, the third season in the annual CFW calendar, is moving to Galle and its iconic Fort, this season, the organisers said this week.  The CFW Resort was introduced in 2012 and alternates between Negombo and Galle to showcase the latest resort wear collections by both Sri Lankan and international designers. CFW Resort 2016, hosted by Jetwing Hotels, will take place from 29th September to 3rd October.

“With three seasons in a year, we feel that Sri Lankan designers have got into a momentum now, as they are stretching themselves to create seasonal collections in line with global trends and seasons. After a successful start to Swim, CFW Resort will only be strengthened by the presentation of strong collections from Sri Lankan and international designers. It will also showcase Galle with an interesting fashion perspective. We are excited and focused in our efforts to take Sri Lankan fashion to the next level and make an international impact,” according to Ajai V. Singh, President of CFW whose comments were released in the media statement.

Last year’s edition of CFW Resort took place in Negombo where 16 Sri Lankan and three international designers presented their resort-wear collections on a runway that was the centre of a dramatic setting, along Negombo’s breath-taking coastline. The backbone of the Sri Lankan fashion industry, CFW has three seasons each year; Spring/Summer, Swim and Resort. Each season, CFW works closely with participating Sri Lankan designers by giving them the guidance required to express their individual design strengths. As the leading fashion platform in Sri Lanka, CFW brings its designers commercial opportunities that would help them sustain their brands and gain recognition both locally and internationally the release said.

CFW is one of four main Fashion Weeks in Asia that are over 10 years old. It is regarded as one of the more international fashion platforms in the region and has showcased some of the biggest names in the global fashion industry in the last 12 years.
