Sri Lanka’s advertising industry will offer up over 100 entries in competition for metal at the Cannes Lions in 2015, according to Ranil de Silva, the local representative for this international awards show. This year’s festival has already received a reord 40,000 entries worldwide, with each paying 530 euros (US$ 600) or more, per entry, depending on the category.

The local advertising industry will be represented at the festival by five teams of two each, participating in the Young Lions competition in the Film, Print, Design, Cyber and Young Marketer categories, and one person attending the Roger Hatchuel Academy, while a further 15 industry delegates will also be taking part. Sri Lankan participants in the Young Lions and Roger Hatchuel Academy were selected based on a competition wherein over 100 local industry professionals competed.

According to a statement, “Infas Nias and Sarah Ramu of Digibrush Productions emerged as the winners of the Film category whilst Rinesh Jayarathne and Hassan Samdin of Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. won the Print category. Dushan Pieris and Chanuka Wijayasinghe of Phoenix O & M won the Design category, and Shehan Samarasinghe and Dilan Ariyaratna of Triad emerged as winners of the Cyber category. Tasneem Dawoodbhoy from Leo Burnett secured her place to attend the Roger Hatchuel Academy and Nuwan Rathnayake and Aveen Sathishka Pathirage of Nestle Lanka won the local Young Lions Marketers Competition”.
