Discussion on “Night Work/5-day working week for women”
View(s):The National Chamber of Commerce is organising a discussion/forum on “Night Work for Women and 5-Day Working Week” on Friday, 26 June 2015 at 3 pm at the Chamber Auditorium at 450, D.R. Wijewardene Mw, Colombo 10.
Due to the current labour law restrictions placed on night work for women, many female employees keep away from night work, thus reducing productivity in industries and also holding back investors from setting up of business ventures in Sri Lanka, especially in the IT, BPO and KPO industries, the chamber said.
The speakers will be from the Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC) Kanishka Weerasinghe, Director General; Shakthi Ranathunga, HR Director, MAS Holdings and Hariharan Padmanaban, Chief Operating Officer of Excelsoft and Director of SLASSCOM who will air their views and share their experiences. The Commissioner of Labour is expected to participate as a special guest at the Forum.
