For the first time in Sri Lanka, medical doctors, physiotherapists and other health professionals will have the opportunity of following the Kinesio Taping KT1 and KT2 course in Colombo conducted by Kinesio India, a subsidiary of Kinesio Taping Association International.

The two-day course on June 27 and 28 is open to doctors, physiotherapists and other health professionals with a solid background in anatomy and physiology.

It will cover the concepts and techniques of Kinesio Taping KT2 and the participants will be awarded an internationally-recognized certificate at the conclusion.

With KT1 and KT2 in hand, and the advanced KT3 course to be held at a later date, the participants will be eligible to obtain accreditation as Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioners (CKTPs), recognized across the world.

The Kinesio Taping Method is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. Additionally, this method of taping helps prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within clinical settings.

Although this treatment has been popularized by athletes, this tape is safe for a diverse population ranging from children to the elderly, suffering from orthopaedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.

The course in Colombo will be conducted by Dr. Abhiya Gupta, a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor who works for Kinesio India as well as a physiotherapist at Medihope Superspeciality Hospital, Bangalore. She has been trained by Dr. Kenzo Kase, the founder of Kinesio Taping.

For registration please contact Dr.G.C. Goonetilleke on Mobile: 0716990937 or e-mail: kinesiotapingsl@gmail.com. The details about the course may be accessed on https://www.facebook.com/kinesiotapingsl
