“Deshapremithwaye Kedapatha” launched
View(s):Several Parliamenta-rians were present at the launch of the book “Deshapremithwaye Kedapatha” (Mirror of Patriotism) on the life and works Dr. T. B. Jayah by Imtiaz Bakeer Markar, on Tuesday, June 3, at Zahira College Colombo.
Dr. Jayah, a member of State Council and the Education Select Committee played a key role in introducing a free education system to Sri Lanka .
Deputy Minister of Education Mohan Lal Grero was the Chief Guest at the event while Director, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva Ranjana Abeysekera delivered the keynote address. Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province W. J. M. Lokubandara and former Principal of Zahira College Javed Jusuf were the guest speakers.
Patrons of the Bakeer Markar Center for National Unity, Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku and Mr. Faisz Mustapa PC presided at the event.
