All citizens including individuals, businesses and local communities are requested to sign up on the official Earth Hour Sri Lanka website (www.earthhour.lk) in support of ‘Earth Hour 2014’ on 29th March from 8:30 – 9:30 pm. By signing up on the website and participating in the global ‘switch off’, Sri Lankans will be able to join millions of others from around the world to demonstrate a commitment to save the planet. This mass action is not about saving electricity for an hour but is about bringing people together to show their commitment to protecting the planet and reducing our environmental footprint on the Earth.

This year, Earth Hour has partnered with motion picture superhero Spider-Man who will serve as an ambassador for the cause in order to raise maximum awareness. As Spiderman joins the Earth Hour initiative, individuals around the world are preparing to come together and ‘switch off’.  At precisely 8:30 PM on Saturday 29th March 2014, millions of people from businesses, governments and local communities around the world will turn off their lights for one hour.
