Offers for investments in the industrial park within the Trincomalee port have been reduced to three ‘Request for Proposals (RFPs)’ for further examination from the previous nine received, an official said.

Out of the earlier nine, which were previously announced, five were examined and out of which two were said to have had “environmental issues” as a result only three were being evaluated.

Port authorities stated that it would be finalised within the next three months. Of these three proposals two were for ship repairs and one for fish-farming. The industrial park which consists of 3,000 acres of land would have investment opportunities in various potential sectors.

It was previously reported that each investor would be allocated five acres of land at the industrial park.
