Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt) Ltd, the pioneer in providing parking and traffic management solutions in Sri Lanka, has entered into a partnership with CALE Access, a Swedish innovator who specialises in innovations related to improving products for parking, public transport and entry fees. The MoU regarding the partnership was signed recently by Duminda Jayathilake, Managing Director of Tenaga Car Parks and Alain Taher Osterlind, head of Representative Office of CALE Access, a Tenaga media release said.

Under the partnership Tenaga will focus on installing one of the latest products of CALE, the CWT Compact—a solar powered parking meter, in order to improve parking facilities around the city of Colombo. As the pilot project the CWT Compact would be installed on a street operated by Tenaga where after the initial success, the facility would be expanded to other areas as well.

“In keeping with Sri Lanka’s plan of innovation and progress, we decided to partner with CALE to bring innovation to the parking industry” said Mr. Jayathilake,. “We think this drive would add a lot of value to the parking industry in Sri Lanka as parking will become a major issue in the next few years to come, with all the developments that are happening in Colombo and suburban Colombo. That is why we are doing a pilot project of three machines and with the success of the pilot project, Tenaga will endeavour to partner with government bodies and organisations to implement the project on a PPP (Public Private Partnership) basis.”

Further, Tenaga hopes to partner with a leading telecommunication provider to bring a wide array of value added services through the network of parking machines in the near future.
Powered by solar panels, CWT Compact machines come with a 45A battery that guarantees a lifetime of five years. Built using stainless steel and aluminum, the CWT Compact is a sturdy machine that is durable and can withstand temperatures between -35 to 60 degrees Celsius showcasing its versatility. Able to accommodate payments systems such as credit and debit cards, coins, cashless wallets, mobile phones, smart cards and much more, the machine’s flexibility is highly advantageous.
