SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, has commenced a wireless inflight entertainment (IFE) system trial on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft1.

During this trial, customers will be able to stream a wide variety of multimedia content such as movies, TV programmes and music directly onto their personal devices while onboard their flight, the airline said.

Customers can access this inflight entertainment content through their laptops, Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android tablets and smartphones.

Access to the inflight content, which will complement SilkAir’s existing overhead entertainment system, will be complimentary for customers.

“This initiative was introduced based on feedback from customers who wanted access to more inflight entertainment options on our flights.

Upon successful trial, we look forward to introducing this system across our aircraft fleet by next year, providing customers with the complete SilkAir experience,” said Chief Executive, Leslie Thng.

SilkAir operates the Singapore Airlines Group’s narrow body fleet and operates more than 300 weekly flights to 45 destinations in 12 countries.
