St. Andrew’s Scots Kirk presents “Hymnfest ’13” – a Festival of Hymns with special arrangements for congregation, choirs, brass and organ today, Sunday, July 14 at 7.30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Scots Kirk, No. 73, Galle Road Colombo 3.

The evening will feature some of the best loved hymns that have been based on the Psalms or have Biblical references, including ‘Praise to the Lord the almighty’ , ‘The Lord’s my shepherd’ , ‘O God our help in ages’ , ‘ Through all the changing scenes of life’ , ‘ O worship the King’ and many more favourites that have stood the test of time.

The evening will also include Anthems for the Choir alone including Hubert Parry’s perennial setting of Psalm 122 “I was glad”.

The musicians participating will be the Voice of Praise Chamber Choir, the Colombo Philharmonic Choir, the Colombo Brass Ensemble, timpanist Tuan Gressy and Denham Pereira at the organ. The conductor will be Manilal Weerakoon and Jill Macdonald will be the presenter for the evening.

Entrance is free with a retiring offering taken at the end. The concert will last approximately an hour and thirty minutes.
